Wisteria Gardens is Romance Distilled into a Landscape
It's a little bit of a drive to get to Anacortes, even for me. I am constantly told, "you live in the middle of nowhere". But good things come to those that are willing to search for them. This venue has a magical ceremony site that captivated my imagination. I loved the silo, long-horned cows, variety of blooming plants, and charming barn-turned reception area. The entire venue was unexpectedly perfect for Ashba and Gerado, just like they are together.
Finding Love is the Same as Coming Home
Maybe I'm just in an overly sappy mood, or maybe it's the care and kindness these two have for one another that has inspired me but I can't stop thinking about how love changes us. When we find love we find a piece of ourselves. The deep inner loneliness that we can't identify or explain is removed just by knowing the other person. Love makes us feel accepted, and valuable in a way that answers our deepest longings. Watching Ashba and Gerado together, you can see it. You can see that together they feel the safety and comfort only love gives. They found a piece of what we all need to be our best and truest selves. This is indeed, worthy of celebration!
Rain, Family, Music, and Tears
Clouds threatened this event all day. Luckily the ceremony and portraits were allowed a small reprieve and both were able to happen outside in the gardens. Later, family and friends would join in traditional dances to honor the couple, and Gerardo would sing a love song to Ashba that made many, including our bride, cry happy tears. This is often the way weddings work. Plans don't always match expectations, but when we are with the people who love us it doesn't really matter what the weather does, because you are warmed by the hearts of those around you. I often find myself moved to tears while working (mainly because I'm a big softie) and I can't help but feel grateful for the chance to see inside someone else's life for a day. I feel so honored to see the best in people on full display each time I pick up my camera.
