To prepare for your newborn session, you'll want to do the following things to ensure your new baby is camera-ready and all goes smoothly.
SICKNESS:
- If anyone in your household is sick, reschedule is required. If you arrive with sick people in your party, your season can be ended early to protect myself and other clients. Please do not risk the safety of myself, my family, and my clients. Please be respectful. I am happy to reschedule or make alternate arrangements if needed.
- I stay up to date on all vaccinations, including whopping cough and COVID. I will also wear a mask during your session. If you would also like a mask, one can be provided.
- The studio is cleaned, and all props are sanitized regularly.
The night before:
- Give your baby a bath the night before and a head-to-toe moisturizer.
- Plan for family members to wear coordinating clothes for family photos and to arrive at the studio dressed and ready to be photographed. There are no outfit changes for family photos. You can bring a change of clothes for after your photos are done.
- Plan to dress for a warm space. The studio will be very warm to keep your infant comfortable and asleep. Conder dressing in cool clothing so you can stay comfortable, too.
- Bring a snack. I have some snacks and drinks available, as well.
The morning of:
- Please arrive camera ready. If you are doing family photos they will be done first.
- Please dress your baby in an easy to remove sleeper outfit and single layer. If you have an outfit you would like your child photographed in Please dress your baby in this outfit prior to arrival.
- All newborn sessions are scheduled for the morning hours at the studio. This is done on purpose to give us the most time with your baby alseep.
- Please check traffic to ensure you'll be able to arrive on time. Your session starts on time even if you arrive late! Remember, it often takes longer to get out of the house with a new little one! Give yourself extra time, and don't worry if you're a little early. I tend to arrive at the studio 30-60 minutes before the session.
- Be prepared to feed your baby in the studio when you arrive. Even if your child has recently eaten, I suggest an extra feeding to help your baby sleep soundly during the photoshoot.
- Cluster feeding is expected during the first few weeks of life. Be prepared for extra feedings if necessary.
- Don't worry about clothing for your baby. I've got you covered!
- Plan to have any family members join us for the first 30 minutes of the session. Extended family, such as grandparents and older siblings, will be asked to leave after family photos are completed. This allows us to proceed with the newborn photos without distraction. Please make arrangements for older siblings and extended family to go home after being photographed.
